Innovation Forum of the Tunisian-German WIND4GRID project

This forum is part of the "Wind turbine power system for grid stabilization with integrated energy storage (WIND4GRID)" project funded by the Tunisian-German bilateral science and technology collaborative program (TUNGER2+2) of the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

More than 40 participants took part in the forum, with representatives from academia, industry and government agencies from both countries. In addition to the presentation of the WIND4GRID results, the forum discussed extensions of the renewable energy value chains, including topics such as opportunities and technological developments for the exploitation of solar and wind systems for the production of hydrogen, methanol and ethanol, and for the desalination of seawater. The potential of offshore wind power off the coast of Tunisia and the deployment of small, lightweight wind turbines for decentralized power were also debated.
